Sustainability Advocate | Job Description

Blue Practice is a communications agency focused on sustainable innovation, design and the environment. We’re a well-known voice for companies and causes seeking behavior change through strategic public relations campaigns, and now we’re looking for an amazing communicator and change-maker to join our team.

As a Sustainability Advocate, you will:

  • Assist in overall public relations support for client activities, including day-to-day account management and client communication;

  • Help oversee account tactics, create and deploy creative programs and manage internal teams, projects and deadlines for agency and client deliverables;

  • Help realize and tell client stories by pitching reporters, writing content, managing social media programs, and overseeing development of visual or interactive assets.

  • Pursue speaking opportunities including major sustainability-focused conferences and events and facilitate submissions on behalf of clientele;

  • Conduct and manage strategic media relations outreach on behalf of clients; develop, drive and tell stories about client activities to select media outlets and facilitate interviews with client partners;

  • Build relationships and support reporters and influencers of key business, industry and environmental news organizations;

  • Write media alerts, news releases and other marketing and media materials as needed;

  • Represent the company and clients at sustainability-related events  

Who are you?

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of public relations experience, exceptional verbal and written skills, an expertise in traditional and social media tactics, a team-building attitude, a creative mind and a motivation to use their talents to advance sustainable issues and causes.  

Preference will be given to applicants with existing media relationships and with a history of working in the cleantech or environmental sector (or a demonstrated passion for sustainability issues).

We value wit, intelligence, and strong writing and account management skills.

Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, including Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Environmental Studies, or English.
