Blue Practice Communicates for a Sustainable World

Specialized Agency Brings Marketing, Public Relations to Green Companies and Organizations

San Francisco, CA – January 30, 2007 – In response to growing concerns of climate change and a burgeoning growth in sustainable products and clean technology, Blue Practice, www.bluepractice.com, a green marketing and public relations group, has formed to provide high-level communications to like-minded companies and organizations.

In an evolution of service, the agency will exclusively focus on bringing a sustainable mindset to business and consumer habits. Blue Practice aims to achieve this through its comprehensive service offerings: start-up launches and campaigns, communications and branding, intelligence and reporting, marketing and messaging, media relations, grassroots program support, NGO alliance-building and executive coaching.

Blue Practice begins with five clients: The Trust For Public Land, SolarCity, Berkeley Mills, Clear Ink and the Ecocities 7th World Summit.

Founding partners Jessica Switzer and Tim Gnatek will lead the new agency.

Jessica Switzer brings expertise in product and company launches, integrated marketing campaigns, and public relations and crisis communications to Blue Practice. As former Vice President of Marketing for Tesla Motors, she directed marketing and launch strategy for the notable electric sports car manufacturer. Before Tesla, she was Managing Director of Ruder Finn, the second largest independently owned PR agency in the world. She gained that position after selling Switzer Communications, her previous independent agency, to Ruder Finn in 2003.

“This is a personal commitment, as well as a business opportunity,” she said. “We are providing a valuable niche in today’s service world, giving the insight of industry veterans in a boutique that enables us to best serve new and established companies that have an authentic focus.”

Tim Gnatek has communicated issues and ideas in technology, science, and sustainability for more than ten years. He has been a regular contributor to the New York Times and a freelance researcher for Wired magazine, in addition to having worked with public broadcasting radio, PBS' FRONTLINE/World, The San Francisco Chronicle, PC Magazine, The Technology Review and other publications.

Previously, Mr. Gnatek managed creative programs at Switzer Communications, where he won national and international awards including two Mercury Awards and a Tenagra Award. He has also been a documentary consultant for a film studio and an editorial writer and speechwriter for an international relief and development agency.

“Specialized communications allows us to be very honed in the information we broker,” he said. “We become a valuable intelligence resource for our clients, with a level of sustainable, green insight and expertise hard to find in the communications world.”

To better serve their environmental and alternative energy client base, Blue Practice works with a small group of specialists: grassroots organizers, coalition builders and policy and sustainability experts.
