The challenge
SemaConnect, a Class-A provider of electric charging stations, needed to reach the people who actually decide whether a building gets EV charging: commercial property managers and owners. The mass-market shift to EVs was coming, and with it a new kind of fueling demand, but the real estate industry hadn't yet connected that shift to its own properties.
The work
I developed and coordinated the Get Charged! Roadshow, a twelve-stop tour through America's leading EV-adoption cities, built with commercial real estate partner CBRE and hosted in part by local USGBC chapters. Each stop offered property managers and owners an interactive session on the emerging EV market and the opportunity for commercial properties to meet rising charging demand.
I solicited USGBC chapter offices to host local events and produced the marketing that carried the program: a case-study flier, an educational presentation, and a video. I also directed all of the creative, the Get Charged! logo, event invitations, and RSVP pages, which showed up on the t-shirts, hats, and portable chargers given away in the Q&A segments.
The outcome
- Generated strong sales leads across the nation
- Deepened SemaConnect's partnership with CBRE, the world's largest commercial real-estate services company, which now promotes and provides EV charging education to its employees
- Culminated in a speaking panel before the national green-building community at GreenBuild 2015 in Washington, D.C.
